Dallas Getaway

Dallas Getaway

This Memorial Day weekend I decided to take a quick getaway out of town. I needed to unplug for a minute and get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. The past few weeks have been BUSY. This is such a transition time for me (will be sharing more about this in the months to come!) and just felt like I had been running like crazy. I yearned for some time to do NOTHING. Nothing, significant at least. So I hopped in the car and headed up the road to Dallas. And friends let me tell you, it was MAGIC.

the world is filled with magical things patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.

Did I do anything extra special? No. But I laughed. I rested. I soaked up the sun. I ate great food. I had no set agenda. I didn't look at a to do list. I quieted my anxious mind. I look care of me. And for me, that's all the magic I need.

So, what did I wear?  Where did I stay? Where did I eat? Here are all the deets from my Dallas getaway.

I have to start with the most important thing - what I wore! I was so excited to be able to wear my gorgeous finds from Tobi.com this weekend. First, I've been swooning over this Emerie Tiered Off the Shoulder Top since the moment I saw it. And what makes it even better is that it is a crop top, and I'm all about crop tops this summer. It's this gorgeous mauve color that will go well with any shade of jeans and the sleeves are flowy and gathered at the wrist. I wore this on the drive down and to brunch on Saturday and paired it with my Tory Burch essentials.

On Sunday, I wore the Kalista Lace Up Blouse with a pair of high waist jeans. I love this top. The lace up detail in the back makes the top super unique and the bell sleeves are perfect. It also has a high-low shape to it, so the front is a little shorter than the back. I paired it with a chic clutch and some sandals, but this can totally be dressed up with heels for a night out. Simply, obsessed!

I stayed at the Omni Downtown. Ya'll I love this hotel! The views were great from the room, and I've never had a hotel provide such great service. Randomly housekeeping knocked on my door in the middle of the day and asked me if I needed ice -- huh? Where they do that? You mean I don't have to walk down the hall to some random nook in the hallway and grab ice myself? It saddened me that I actually did not need ice. I should've just said yes.

The pool at this hotel is also like Vegas...in Dallas.  Little ole me walked to the pool with a book in hand really thinking I was going to read. Um, no. Not happening. There was a DJ and pool side service. AMAZING! All around great stay in my book.

Most of my eating adventures were in the Bishop Arts area. The Local Oak is one of my favorites. The French Toast is everything and all of your beverages are served in the cutest mason jars. LOVE. You have to try this place.

For everyone who sent me restaurant recommendations on Instagram -- thank you! My little heart is SO grateful for all of you. I couldn't make it to all of the suggestions, but you better believe they are saved in my notes and I WILL be visiting on my next trip to Dallas.

So all in all, the quick getaway is exactly what I needed. Six hours of car karaoke later I'm back in Houston and already packing for my next adventure...in 3 days! Any idea where I am going next? Follow me on Instagram for all of the deets!
